For My Son Here we are, standing at the end of the road. There are so many things I've left untold. I watched you grow into a fine man through the years. I did all the things I could, in happiness and in tears. You were so enjoyable, a child of great joy, So curious, happy, my precious little boy. From trains, planes, boats to all those girls, You sure had heads spinning around in swirls. I didn't have time to always say good night, God bless, hear prayers and hold you tight. I wasn't there when you fell and skinned your knee, But you were always in my heart and a part of me Often we danced to music of a different beat, Kidding around and scuffing our feet. The messes we made, we didn't care, Cause we had our love all around us there. Now you're full grown, a man I see. To think I once carried you inside of me. Sorry I never had time to tell you more. I just couldn't tell you what the future had in store. I never seemed to have the time to listen with anything but my heart Before I knew it you were gone, and we were apart. The years have drifted, and the seasons are passing one by one. You have a lifetime ahead of you. You've only just begun Alice E. Steimle© 1999 Click the bar to send to someone special
